Eating is more than just a hobby for me. It is a passion. I enjoy
eating every kind of food. However, when I arrived in Taiwan one of the
problems I had besides the time difference was the food. I did not like
the green or black ice tea. They tasted different from the lemon ice tea
Nicaraguans drink. Also, I did not like the taste and the flavor of the
Taiwanese food. The sauce of the food was different. I was not used to
this food. My friends and I went to different restaurants and we tried a
lot of dishes. We liked some of them but we disliked others. The dishes
we liked have a similar taste from our national food but those dishes
were not from Taiwan.
I was tired of the Taiwanese food because since
we came here we have eaten eggs, rice and noodles every meal every day.
I really did not want to try anymore Taiwanese food. Almost everything
was made of eggs, such as the desserts. I was more tired of eggs than
rice or noodles. If it is not made of egg, then you have egg on your
dish or there is egg on the top of the rice. There are some Taiwanese
foods that I really like such as ji rou fan. I like it because the
flavor of the sauce is really good and the chicken is very good. It is
cheap, you eat a lot and it is easy to cook. The dish is made of rice,
chicken and the sauce. The first time I tried it was in El Chino Rico.
The international sophomore students took me there last week. I have
gone to that restaurant like 5 or 6 times because I like ji rou fan and
I only spend 30 NT. After three weeks being here in Taiwan I got used to
the flavor of the food. Now I enjoy the Taiwanese food and I can use the
chopsticks very well…
