Prof. Vladimir Simic was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1983. He received a Dipl. Ing. degree from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Serbia, in December 2007. He received a Ph.D. degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Serbia, in November 2014.
Since 2025, he has been a Full Professor of the Transport and Traffic Engineering Department at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. In 2023, he was granted the title “Adjunct Honorary Professor” from the College of Engineering at Yuan Ze University (YZU), Taiwan.
He has conducted intensive research on operations research applications in diverse fields of specialization, with a particular focus on developing artificial intelligence systems, advanced hybrid multi-criteria decision-making tools, and real-life large-scale stochastic programming optimization models. He published about 370 research papers, including 277 papers in SCI indexed international journals (e.g. Applied Soft Computing, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, IEEE Transactions of Fuzzy Systems, Experts Systems with Applications, etc.).
Prof. Simic is an Editor of KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems (SCIE). He was serving as an Editor of Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier), guest editor for Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (Elsevier), PeerJ Computer Science, etc. He regularly serves as an ad-hoc reviewer of many top-tier journals.
According to Stanford University, Prof. Simic was enlisted among the World’s top 2% of scientists with a career-long impact in 2024 & 2025 and also a single-year impact in 2023, 2024, & 2025. He won the “2016 Excellence in Review Award” from Resources, Conservation and Recycling in 2017. He received the “WM&R Best Paper Award” for the article “A novel intuitionistic fuzzy MCDM-based CODAS approach for locating an authorized dismantling center: a case study of Istanbul” from Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy to the most influential paper contributing to the current Impact Factor that is based on citations and quality of research in 2023.
